What is needed for the CHL Class?

In order to move your CHL license along , you can apply for your CHL online to get your packet prior to the class.

If you are not able to do this I will have student packets for te class also.

I do ask that you use the firearm that you tend to carry, get used to how it fires and handles. The State of Texas requires to pass the CHL Shooting Proficiency section with a score of 175 out of 250 ( 70% ). If you don`t pass the first time you will be able to to try again

What is needed in the classroom?

If you have applied online please bring your packet. I will need to see your Drivers` license also. ( I will supply pens and pencils to take notes )

If you have eye and ear protection you will need it for the Proficiency ( range ) part of the class.If you don`t have them you can rent them from the range for a small fee.

Handgun and Ammo specs: Bring the firearm that you are going to carry, make sure that it is in good working order. Laser sighs will NOT be allowed nor optics for the range portion. I recommend the use of a semi-automatic, please make sure it is at least a .32 caliber. therefor you can carry either a semi-automatic or a revolver. If you choose to qualify with a revolver that will be the the only style firearm you will be able to carry.

Can I carry my firearm in the Class?

No , firearms will NOT be allowed in classroom for safety reasons.There will be no live ammo in classroom.

What should I wear for the classroom and range?

Proper attire is suggested. Something that you are comfortable shooting in and gives you good balance.

Will there be food ?

I will not supply lunch , but there are some snack machines at location. There will be a hour lunch so you can leave to eat and return before the hour is up.

What if I need to cancel?

All I ask is that you call if you have to cancel at least 5 days before the scheduled class. I can reschedule you in my next class at your convenience.

Can I share my firearm with another student?

Yes , but you do your proficiency at different times.

What if I don`t pass either the written test or range proficiency?

If you fail one or the other you will be worked with until you are able to pass , we want you to pass and have the right to carry.

Will firearms be included with class?

No , I will NOT supply a firearm for this class.
